About Rap Queens

I'm a lifelong Hip-Hop fan. With streaming services and their silly algorithms, I've found it difficult to find new music, especially by non-mainstream, female rappers. There was a time when we could walk into a record store and chat with other customers and employees about their favorites. Technology has taken away the community around discovering new music.

I launched Rap Queens to keep a running list of the women I think deserve more shine. These are some emcees who I respect for their craft, artistry, and contributions to Hip-Hop culture. I’ll post updates periodically as I find more artists.

If I don't include your favorites, that's okay. They just don't appeal to my personal tastes. If you think I might like them, send them my way here. If they're wack, they won't make my list. Smile.

This website is not funded by any artist, record label, streaming service, or other industry players. I’m doing this on my free time, using my own money. You might disagree with some of my selections or non-selections. That’s cool. I’m confident in my great musical tastes.

I hope you find an artist here whose music resonates with you. I hope you tell a friend about them.
